Few of us will ever become billionaires, but everyone has a family. Family wealth is an embodiment of values of tradition, heritage, lineage, authenticity, and quality. Often they offer a universal appeal unlike rich individual people. The major way to note down wealth in one family is to realize that if they stopped working today, they have enough to keep five to six generations down the line in good shape. Wealth that is passed from one generation of family to another, suggests royalty in some way.
Here are the top 10 richest families in Kenya.
Rank | Family | Net Worth |
1. | Moi Family | $3.5 billion |
2. | Kenyatta Family | $3.3 billion |
3 | Shah Family | $3 billion |
4. | Chandaria Family | $2.8 billion |
5. | Biwott Family | $2.3 million |
6. | Odinga Family | $2.2 million |
7. | Njonjo Family | $1.8 billion |
8. | Kulei Family | $1.5 billion |
9. | Nyachae Family | $1.3 billion |
10. | Ndegwa Family | $1.2 billion |

That’s why they are pushing one of them to protect their wealth
So the biggest enterprise in Kenya is obviously politics! Those in power and the corridors of power simply leverage State authority and might to appropriate whatever thousands of hectares of land they deem fit for themselves, family members, friends, associates and cronies.
Is it any accident that the Moi and Kenyatta families came in 1-2, what “business” have they been known for other than politics? On the African continent, especially the Black portion, the gap between the richest and the poorest is a canyon! ’nuff said.
