Black people are slowly flocking in their number to the 3-comma club. Since 2001 when Bob Johnson made a grand entry to the club, thereby becoming the first black billionaire, and subsequently openly doors for other potential black people, the list has kept on growing each year.
Oprah Winfrey reassured the world, that black people and in particular black women can also be ranked among other 3-comma colonizers when she slipped into the list in 2003, and later took over from Bob Johnson in 2004.
The year 2008, must have been the reigniting year and a stamp of resilience, as 3 more black people poked in, to the dismay of the entire world. Since then the list has doubled in this year, to accommodate more of the so called ‘people of colour’.
