Generosity is the virtue of being liberal in giving. The World Giving Index gives a unique insight into trends in generosity across the globe. The levels of generosity we see in countries is truly humbling, particularly when it shows huge support for others in countries which have suffered years of conflict, war or instability. That really demonstrates our shared human values shining through. The World Giving Index (WGI) is an annual report published by the Charities Aid Foundation, using data gathered by Gallup, and ranks countries in the world according to how charitable they are. In order to ensure that giving is understood in its various forms, the report looks at three aspects of giving behaviour; helping a stranger, donating money to charity and volunteering in an organization. This enables us to provide answers to questions about where people are most likely to engage in pro-social activities and to champion the growth of growing giving.
